10 good reasons to own a black cat

Some more serious than others.

  1. If you favour a "goth" look, a black cat's hair won't show on your black clothes and furnishings. On the other hand.
  2. If your carpets and furniture are lighter in colour, you will be able to spot your cat easily when it is curled up somewhere it shouldn't be.
  3. At Hallowe'en, you can dress up as a witch and you will have a ready made feline familiar.
  4. Unlike white cats, black ones are unlikely to be deaf but will fit into a minimalist, monochrome home just as well.
  5. Black cats make especially good hunters as they are not easily spotted. Perfect if you live somewhere where there is plenty of 'visitors' to be kept under control - until it snows.
  6. A black cat crossing your path is lucky. You will have luck every day if you own one.
  7. It won't show the dirt.
  8. Black cats are far less likely than lighter coloured ones to suffer from sunburnt ears and noses, damage which sometimes leads to cancer.
  9. A black cat's coat is perfect for showing off brightly coloured or bejewelled safety collars - very chic.
  10. Your children can pretend that mild-mannered Puss is actually a small panther.
